EXO’s CBX debuts with “Hey Mama”, which grows more than shows

“Why haven’t you covered EXO’s CBX subunit? Is it a conspiracy? Do you hate them?”

Look motherfuckers, we covered the goddamn teasers for this release, which rarely happens, so of course we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, shit happens, and the author that was going to review this had stuff pop up. Shit happens.

Thus, you EXO fans are now left with an even more grumpy than usual me to review CBX‘s “Hey Mama.”

I wish I hated it because it’d be more fun that way, but this was surprisingly fun.

This isn’t necessarily the kind of song that burrows itself into your ear immediately, but it is the kind of foot-tapping track that will grow on you over time and doesn’t need to be skipped on a playlist.

Unlike certain worthless philistines (KPOPALYPSE), I thought the funk influences in “Hey Mama” played well and ultimately helped it fulfill its promise.
