MyB‘s “DDODDO” came out of nowhere in the sense that they’re one of those groups I wouldn’t even bother clicking on their music video if I was tired or something. Glad I decided to give them a shot this time around, as they provided a jolt of energy to the rather bland landscape of cute concepts.
When the instrumental to this first started, I thought to myself, “Oh god, not another cringe-worthy, cutesy, boring, basic-as-fuck, quasi-ballad piece of shit.” However, I was thankfully almost instantly disarmed of that opinion, as the track became a lot more like throwback A Pink or current G-Friend than anything plucked out of the basic innocent concept garbage. Rather than necessarily applying throwback A Pink hook songs or the current aggressive choreography of G-Friend, MyB went with something that was a mix of both and ended up winning me over by just being a plain fun listen.
The bright, mid-tempo music videos are a lot more old school K-pop than anything else, and MyB pulled it off surprisingly well in “DDODDO” for a group I don’t think I’ve ever heard of before. My only real problem is that they are all styled the same with the same hair color and the same clothes, thus making them look like clones. But since the company could probably only afford one color of hair dye to begin with, I’ll forgive them.
Sorry in advance for enjoying this to the five MyB stans out there, as this will now flop miserably on the charts.
