Hey everybody, it’s certainly been a while since we last caught up on the FIFTY FIFTY/ATTRAKT case, and while nothing has been resolved yet, there’s definitely been updates. That includes a doozy of one that emerged recently involving Ablume, SIAHN, and MASSIVE E&C.
——
As mentioned, none of the remaining legal battles have been settled yet, but that hasn’t stopped the flow of lawsuits being filed. ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon has sued the Unanswered Questions producer for defamation. While ATTRAKT as a company sued SIAHN over forgery, copyright infringement, and breach of trust, along with Warner Music Korea in a ~$14 million lawsuit for allegedly tampering with FIFTY FIFTY. On the other side, the Ablume (ex-FIFTY FIFTY) members filed a 300 million won counterclaim against ATTRAKT/Jeon Hong Joon for settlement money.
So all of that is legal stuff that will be resolved eventually, but one of the more interesting reports that emerged was about how the Ablume members and family were “gaslit” by SIAHN and Warner Music Korea. It says with the backing of Warner, SIAHN stoked fear in the parents that ATTRAKT had no plans for the group, that he instilled fear of debt to the company in them, explained how he had plans for the group stopped by lack of funding from ATTRAKT, and told them that he alone was responsible for their success.
That was last September, but it seems most relevant now after it was reported that SIAHN has signed a one-year production deal with Ablume’s company MASSIVE E&C to work with the girls again. Even fans of Ablume were angered by this and demanded answers as to why they were back working with one of the people responsible for many of the problems they dealt with under ATTRAKT. Well they got a response, confirming the members reached out to him and the company supports them, while making vague allusions to knowing about legal outcomes.

One doesn’t exactly need to have been an ATTRAKT supporter to see that this is an insanely bad look, as much of the support for Ablume revolved around the narrative that they were also taken advantage of by SIAHN while under ATTRAKT, were separate from the tampering mess, and just wanted to start anew in a healthier environment. Fans especially had concerns with regards to their health, as did I, but while those were allegedly inflicted on them under ATTRAKT, it heavily involved execution by The Givers and SIAHN.
Now, the members themselves are essentially brushing off concerns about their former relationship with SIAHN, which not only brings the tampering question to the forefront but also potentially sheds a lot of their remaining support right before their re-debut. To prevent that, their statements are effectively just asking fans to … uh, trust them about this decision despite SIAHN being at least involved with a lot of the problems the members had previously brought up. Barring some kind of miracle legal turnaround — and even then he’s fraudulent and corrupt at best — I’m not sure there’s any way to spin this for them other than to remind people that it’s still primarily SIAHN who’s at the center of the mess. Well, good luck to the Ablume members going forward, and hopefully he’s turned a new leaf, I guess.
