Given that it was a Christmas song, I had actually forgotten Dreamcatcher released “My Christmas Sweet Love” physically as well, though that does sorta represent my general disinterest in the season’s music. Instead of an official music video we get a cute special clip to go along with the preview memes, and at the very least I’m glad it’s not a plodding ballad.
It’s a bit more shouty than melodic, which would’ve needed a more aggressive production tact to make work, but thankfully it has some life to it. That alone makes it at least above-average for this season.
Honestly the Carol Version of “Jazz Bar” was the highlight of the single, especially since it comes with the bonus of getting to imagine a choir singing it in front of a church or something.
Seriously though, I felt it kinda smooths things out a bit and makes it more vibey — especially during the chorus — which works well for this type of track. Not sure it’s better, necessarily, but it feels transformative.

Anyway, what motivated me to make this post was actually Siyeon covering Mika Nakashima‘s hit “Yuki No Hana” for MEN Noblesse‘s MEN CONCERT feature.
There’s been a lot of great covers of this song, and for me, this is now one of them.
Also, here’s Mika’s music video for the song and a similarly live rendition of sorts for THE FIRST TAKE.
