Rundown: LISA, Taemin, NMIXX, DRIPPIN, SF9, ARrC

What I’ll say about the latest batch of high-profile post-Olympics releases is that it’s probably not the best sign if I had to look most of them up to make sure they weren’t just throwaway pre-release tracks.

======

LISA (Feat. Rosalia) – “NEW WOMAN”

I actually think this might be LISA‘s best solo effort for the most part. Sparse at times, but the production is great and Lisa delivers her lines with the necessary bite to compensate for the fact that it’s a bit repetitive and ends abruptly. Rosalia is the big get here as feature, and … uh, it reminds me of those old K-pop features where they are just shoehorn in the big-name guest for the sake of it even though it doesn’t fit the song at all. Nothing against Rosalia, but it’s just so out of place and K-pop (especially LISA) is beyond this stuff by now.

ARrC – “S&S”

Mystic Story‘s new boy group, apparently. I’ve heard enough of these songs where you start reflecting like, “Am I out of touch? No, it’s the kids that are wrong.” Except it’s not a meme and you’re actually correct.

——

Taemin (SHINee) – “Sexy In The Air”

With the amount of people copying his sound, I assume he wanted to try something different. But I gotta admit, I was waiting for most of the song for something to happen.

——

DRIPPIN – “Weekend”

A cute throwaway song that feels like it was rushed out for some rom-com OST more than being a single.

——

SF9 – “Don’t Worry Be Happy”

Safe and pleasant song that at least should be enough for fans to enjoy, though the bridge kinda excludes it from any vibes playlist for me.

——

NMIXX – “See That?”

Well, I was wrong about this:

Seriously though, I’ve become something of an NMIXX fan of late because of their output, but this wasn’t even like an interesting mixx-up or whatever.

Gonna be honest, in light of everything else in here, LISA’s song looks a lot more appealing.
