LOONA’s Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye, Go Won win lawsuit against Blockberry, all 12 members now free

In a pleasant surprise given that they had initially failed in their attempts to have an injunction granted on their Blockberry Creative contracts, LOONA members Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye, and Go Won have all won their appeal against the original ruling and will get a fresh start.

On the 16th, The Seoul High Court’s 5th Civil Cases Division ruled in favor of the five remaining members of the girl group LOONA, who appealed for an injunction to suspend the validity of their exclusive contract with agency Blockberry Creative.
As such, the remaining members, Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye and Go Won, will all be able to start anew outside Blockberry.

The reason they were able to do this is because it was ruled that Blockberry transferring the exclusive contracts to Universal Music Japan was done without consent.

Viewing there to be a problem with Blockberry’s transferring of exclusive contracts to Japanese agency Universal Japan without the written consent of the members, the court decided to suspend the effect of the exclusive contracts.

This effectively kills two birds with one stone for all of them in the ongoing contract debacle. Even if all the members got out from Blockberry in Korea, all 12 appeared to still had the contract in Japan to deal with. However, with those declared invalid as well, it seems they are all now free to choose their own path. Granted, I’m not sure if Japanese courts will feel the same and the legal battles likely aren’t over, but for now it has to be a great feeling that they can do what they want.

And now we basically wait to see what the members will do (and you can certainly dream big), but either way, this all seems to be advancing towards a huge win for the entire group against Blockberry.

The members are pleased and hilarious.
