With everything that’s been going on, it would be easy to miss that cases related to Burning Sun are indeed still ongoing, and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk has recently plead guilty on all charges, including prostitution mediation and embezzlement.
On the morning of June 3, the Seoul Central District Court held the first hearing for six people connected to the Gangnam club Burning Sun, including Yoo In Suk. Their charges include occupational embezzlement, prostitution mediation, violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes, and violation of the Food Sanitation Act. Yoo In Suk has been put on trial on charges of prostitution mediation (a violation of the Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts, etc.). He has been charged with mediating prostitution for foreign investors (including a group of Japanese businessmen) a total of 24 times from 2015 to 2016, together with former BIGBANG member Seungri. Yoo In Suk is also charged with occupational embezzlement for using Yuri Holdings’s company funds to pay when playing golf with Senior Superintendent Police Officer Yoon. Yoo In Suk has been described as the “problem solver” of the controversial group chat room including celebrities such as Seungri, Jung Joon Young, and Choi Jong Hoon. It was reported during the initial Burning Sun controversy that Yoo In Suk was friendly with Senior Superintendent Yoon, who is suspected of having suppressed investigations related to Burning Sun.
Notably, his lawyer says he will provide a statement that will cover his degree of involvement.
On June 3, Yoo In Suk’s lawyer stated, “He pleads guilty to all charges, and we will submit a written statement that goes into detail about matters such as his degree of involvement and factors that should be considered in the assessment of his case.” His lawyer went on to clarify that while Yoo In Suk admits to the charges of embezzlement of Yuri Holdings’s funds, there are aspects that require a legal investigation and they will be sharing their concrete views with the court later on.
Does this mean they got him to turn on the others? We shall see.
Either way though, one has to be absolutely deluded to believe anybody connected to this club and the group chat related to it just had no idea what was going on. Like all of this was happening, they were in the chat, but they didn’t know what it was for or that it was innocent? Come on, man.
