As the Burning Sun scandal has continued to expand, it never seemed like the investigation period would come to an end. However, police recently applied for arrest warrants for both Seungri and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk.
The police requested the warrants on May 8 and explained, “It appears that the two conspired for acts including mediation of prostitution and embezzlement.” The police added that exact details cannot be revealed as the case is still under investigation. A pretrial detention warrant allows for a suspect to be detained for longer than 48 hours. It is granted if the court rules that there is potential for a suspect to flee or destroy evidence.
Gotta be honest, I’m not sure what the point of doing this now is. They’ve likely destroyed any evidence they had already and if they were going to flee they likely would’ve done that already as well.
Anyway, knowing what they’ve done so far, like laughing at the molka videos from Jung Joon Young‘s group chats and what not, obviously morally they’re reprehensible already. But I’m pessimistic when it comes to the justice system, and despite things seeming one way, given how this has shaken out with the police and all that, I’m not especially hopeful that serious legal punishments will come down.
