After signing with Interscope and Universal Music Group to rep them outside of Asia just a couple months ago, BLACKPINK will reportedly advance into the American market during the first half of 2019, though what exactly that entails is still unknown.
Naturally, I’m skeptical, especially because it relies on YG Entertainment to do anything right. I mean, CL‘s current predicament isn’t exactly the most promising foundation to build credibility on and the comparisons to the Wonder Girls are inevitable. That said, this is clearly a new era for K-pop in the West, so who knows?
Honestly, I’m just hoping this doesn’t just turn into a way for YGE to do nothing with them.
