Oh boy, almost three months worth of random news updates. Hell of a time.
======
- Beenzino filed a complaint against a woman in her 30s for repeatedly stalking him
- Dabin (DPR LIVE) lost his lawsuit against Regime International over unpaid wages, also withdrew lawsuits against Dream Perfect Regime and Scott Kim in June
- Baek Yerin’s ex (Cloud) accused her of verbal abuse and mistreatment
- Lee Sun Gyun’s blackmailers were sentenced to 3 years and 6 months and 4 years and 2 months
Dabin’s problems were briefly mentioned back in February, if you want to catch up on that. For Baek Yerin’s case, it just adds on to the legal action Cloud had taken against her agency PLP (and her, basically). Not sure how that’s going to go, but neither her nor her agency has responded, though they were quick to issue a detailed statement on “plagiarism”. Lee Sun Gyun’s blackmail case seemingly wraps up with the sentencing, though I assume appeals will follow.

- Lee Hi has signed with Duover
- Loco has left AOMG after 11 years
- Girl’s Day’s Minah signs with SM C&C
- DeVita has left AOMG
- Jessi left her own agency UNNI under DOD
- BBGIRLS have signed with GLG
Lee Hi reunites with former AOMG labelmates Code Kunst, Gray, and Woo Won Jae at the new agency the trio founded earlier this year. And speaking of the growing list of former AOMG artists, I wonder where Loco goes now. Jessi’s “controversy” was likely why she left, but it’s still a bit confusing to me unless they forced her out for some reason.

- Jo has withdrawn from DXMON following three-month health hiatus
- Woo Kyung Jun withdraws from THE NEW SIX (TNS) and enlists in military
- 3YE have disbanded and their GH Entertainment contracts have expired
- n.SSign’s Junhyeok & Eddie have left the group for health reasons
Notably, Jo was one of the DXMON members that made an impression on me with their hairstyle. Speaking of THE NEW SIX, they changed their name back to TNX recently, dunno. The n.SSign members were on hiatus and the company says it was of their own will, but Eddie went on a rant calling everything about the group fake back in June.

- The KingDom’s Hwon has suspended activities due to health reasons
- NCT’s Renjun has resumed activities following a hiatus for health reasons
- Moon Geun Young says she’s healthy after her bout with compartment syndrome in 2017
- TXT’s Soobin goes on hiatus to prioritize his helth
- A.C.E’s Lee Donghun on hiatus to treat acute cholecystitis
- Lee Chae Yeon announced a break from dancing due to back problems
Moon Geun Young’s situation is crazy because she underwent four surgeries in 2017 due to acute compartment syndrome and was on the verge of needing amputation. The treatment for that is basically cutting the area open, so caring about her weight or whatever seems pointless as hell. For A.C.E’s Lee Donghun, that’s basically gallbladder inflammation, which can get serious in a hurry. Lee Chae Yeon posted her MRI, which seems to show two herniated discs in her lumbar spine impinging her nerves. Nasty injury that doesn’t ever really go away.

- Ong Seong Wu has been discharged from the military
- BTS’s J-Hope has been discharged from the military
- GOT7’s Jinyoung has been discharged from the military
- WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon has been discharged from the military
Speaking of WINNER and the military, I’ll probably recap the MINO thing later.

- NCT’s Doyoung donated 100 million won to UNICEF
- Park Jin Young donated a billion won to five hospitals supporting underprivileged children

As usually seems typical, a lot of donations around the end of the year.

- Beenzino and Stefanie Michova welcomed their first child, a boy

- Seo In Young and her husband are divorcing after around two years
- Jaekyung got married to her boyfriend earlier this year
- PROWDMON’s Monika of Street Woman Fighter fame is pregnant and getting married
Guess all that smoke around the marriage of T-ara‘s Jiyeon was indeed caused by a fire. Can only wish her the best. On Song Ji Eun and Park We … I find so much of the discourse around them weird, and it feels like everybody isn’t being outwardly ableist about it cause they know it’s not PC but really want to be ableist about it.
K-pop fans becoming openly ableist to "support" women is one of the weirdest things about the updates/judgments on their relationship. https://t.co/nfkf0D2e0T

Anyway, the marriages of Jaekyung and Monika seemingly came out of nowhere, and there are a lot of celebrity births. For as much as people supposedly care about Korea’s birthrate (which surprisingly is trending up), I always find it interesting how class is danced around despite being a primary factor. Not as many easy clicks for that, I guess, but it’s rarely even alluded to.
