Former TVXQ member Kim Junsu has returned to public variety shows with an appearance on MBC‘s Radio Star, marking his return after a 15 year absence. Junsu also returned to non-cable TV in general with The Return Of Superman in April.
During his appearance, viewers got a taste of what they had been missing, as he sang part of “Hug” and “O”, then danced to his killing point in “Mirotic”.

The “Mirotic” topic was especially interesting, cause he mentioned it being especially important since they were feeling the heat from BIGBANG’s rise, and how the choreo was put together.
On this episode, Kim Junsu confessed a secret he’d been hiding about TVXQ’s “Mirotic” choreography. According to Junsu, the debut of a new rival in the K-Pop industry, Big Bang, put much pressure on TVXQ at the time to maintain their peak popularity. As a result, the company chose the song “Mirotic” and hired 5 different choreography teams to each come up with the choreography for the legendary K-Pop hit, then used only the best moves from each submission.
Hearing this, Gabi mentioned, “This is a tactic that companies use now.” Junsu added on, “Back then, I think it was the first time that any company tried something like it.”
However, the group and the company felt that the choreography still needed a “killing point”. Junsu confessed that the well-known “killing point” move of “Mirotic”, the “chin-rest” move, was created by him. Impressed by Junsu’s confession, the ‘Radio Star’ MCs asked the idol star to perform a short snippet of the “Mirotic” dance.
It’s always nice to get these confessions of stuff they couldn’t acknowledge while it was going on like decades later.
He also performed a cover of Yoon Jong Shin & Jung In’s “Uphill Road”.
Anyway, seeing Junsu back is great, and with Jaejoong’s return to music shows, hopefully Junsu is next whenever he drops music again.
