While I mentioned I didn’t miss much on the music side during the break, oh boy did I apparently miss a bunch of news stuff that feels almost too late to cover in individual articles. Thus, you get this big-ass catchup.
Let’s go.
======
- Ex-BLACK6IX member Kim Hyunjae won his false accusation lawsuit over school bullying
- Nature’s Haru acknowledged she worked at a hostess bar but no longer does
- G-Dragon acquired the rights to “G-Dragon” and “GD” from YG Entertainment
Unfortunately for Kim Hyunjae, nothing can really give him the chance to continue on Peak Time, which he had to withdraw from. With regards to Haru’s situation, I’m sure people are happy about that outcome, but they also aren’t the ones paying her bills now, right? Right, so maybe they should’ve just left it alone. Meanwhile, G-Dragon getting the trademark rights is interesting, and it continues a trend of idols doing so.

- VIXX’s Ken signs with S27M Entertainment
- Stray Kids re-sign with JYP Entertainment
- GroovyRoom left H1GHR MUSIC
- Kang Daniel signs with ARA
- Bae Jin Young leaves CIX and C9 Entertainment
- GFRIEND’s Sowon has left OUI Entertainment
- TEMPEST’s Hwarang leaves group, Yuehua Entertainment says decision was mutual
- Ex-FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Aran, Sio sign with MASSIVE E&C under IOK Company
The two biggest items from this section is Hwarang leaving TEMPEST seemingly due to clubbing and the former FIFTY FIFTY members inking with a new company. Hwarang and Yuehua Entertainment say it’s mutual, but that’s hard to believe. Yuehua are being vague about it, like he did something beyond that, but who knows. As for the former FIFTY FIFTY members, I’m honestly really shocked a company took a chance on them with the ongoing lawsuits and all, but they’re likely hoping that their international support can carry them to relevancy as a trio. They’re targeting later this year for a comeback, which is also a quick turnaround, and the company seems supportive so it’s probably good for them.
Also, hopefully Kang Daniel can have a company that isn’t dogshit now at least.

- KARA’s Gyuri sustained cheekbone and orbital fractures
- DKB’s Luna goes on hiatus due to declining health and anxiety symptoms
- UNIS’s Kotoko fainted on stage and F&F Entertainment went into damage control mode
Honestly terrifying injuries for Gyuri, but she seems to be handling it well. The Kotoko situation looked like it could’ve been significantly worse, so hopefully the company is honest about her health. It’s always … convenient how they immediately say they prioritize artist health when stuff like this happens that they can’t deny.

- iKON’s Yunhyeong will enlist in the military on August 13
- SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan will enlist in the military this year, while Jun is on hiatus to pursue stuff like acting in China
Two of those things are expected, but the Jun thing seems a bit surprising. Not sure how concerned fans are, but historically it’s worth a bit of worry.

- (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon donated 100 million won to victims of flooding through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association
- Every (G)I-DLE member donated 10 million won to the Korean Red Cross
- SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups donated 30 million won to animal rights group Weact
Of course the (G)I-DLE donation to the Korean Red Cross is the funniest because of the Geneva Conventions violation stuff.
——
- NS Yoon G gave birth to a daughter
- Super Junior’s Sungmin and his wife are pregnant with their first child
Congrats!

Phew.
