Following a 6.5-year hiatus for SISTAR19 after both the unit and the group disbanded, they have reunited and blessed us with a comeback. The single is an obvious reference to their hit “Ma Boy“, declaring that there’s …. well, no more of that in “NO MORE (MA BOY)“, updating things for 2024.
It’s a simple, funky sound that’s at least drives forward a bit, though the vocals have an almost echoing feel to them at times. While I’m predisposed to liking this due to my looking forward to the duo’s reunion (and hopefully SISTAR’s), “NO MORE” effectively revolves entirely around the “no no no, no no no nobody’s perfect” repetition as a hook, which is basically run into the ground, and it otherwise doesn’t have a whole lot of meat to it. Despite a short run time and abrupt ending, “NO MORE” still feels repetitive, like it’s dragging itself to the conclusion. It’s not bad or anything, it’s just kinda generically solid, and my expectations were certainly higher.
