In perhaps the least shocking news ever, it’s being reported that Chungha will not renew her contract with agency MNH Entertainment, and the company didn’t say much in response to these reports.
On January 30, Sports World reported that Chungha decided not to renew her contract with MNH Entertainment upon the upcoming expiration of her contract period. In response to the report, a source from MNH Entertainment briefly mentioned that they are in the process of confirming the facts.
Normally, I wouldn’t bother with news of an artist renewing or not, but it’s notable in her case because she aired the company out in August of last year for mismanagement of her career. MNH also notably disbanded Bvndit last year, and now is down to new boy group 8Turn as their only idol connection — other artists are Lim Sang Hyun and Vvon.
No news yet on what Chungha’s going to do afterward, but presumably she’s going to try and get better terms somewhere that will allow her to do what she wants, so it should be interesting to see how her output and music changes now.
