8BallTown producer Bronze returned a couple weeks ago with his third album, ‘Skyline‘, which included a nice little gem on it in “Ondo” through combining Lee Hi and city pop.
While city pop has rapidly become the genre of choice for many artists who lack the range to do anything but vibes, there’s enough wrinkles here to keep this fresh enough. The synths have a bit more thump, things get a bit more funky than usual, and Lee Hi provides a reserved but confident vocal that lingers in the chorus and my brain. It’s not some dynamic lead pop single (though it’s better than most trying to be), but it’s an easy add to my nighttime driving/cruising playlist.
