A 17-year-old female high school student was arrested for stalking 7 MEN Samurai member Sasaki Taiko. She was detained after she pointed a box cutter at him around his company’s office, and she told police that she fell in love with him at first sight.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Shibuya Police Station arrested the 17-year-old girl who lives in Yokohama on suspicion of violating the Anti-Stalking Act and the Act on Punishment of Physical Violence and Others. The student stands accused of stalking Taiko Sasaki, a 19-year-old member of the group under training at major talent agency Johnny & Associates Inc., around the company’s office in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward and pointing a box cutter at him at JR Shibuya Station between April 1 and May 8 this year. Sasaki was not injured. The suspect has reportedly admitted to the allegations against her, and was quoted as telling police, “I fell in love at first sight and could think of nothing but him.”
Apparently she was also trying to chase him down with the weapon.
Things reached a fever pitch on April 30 when the girl chased Taiko with a utility knife for about 200 meters at Shibuya Station, while saying that he need not worry about being stalked anymore because she was stopping her activity.
This wasn’t her first encounter with authorities, unsurprisingly, as she got four warnings from police.
According to police, the student began to stalk and lie in wait for Sasaki in around April 2021. In November, Sasaki consulted with Shibuya Police Station over the matter. Police warned her four times based on the Anti-Stalking Act before she was ultimately arrested.
She was reported to the police last November.
Honestly, the scene as described seems like something out of fiction, like some bad writing about an obsessed fangirl, but real. The bizarre nature of her arrest aside, we already know these situations can lead to borderline deadly consequences for the victims, so it’s nice that he’s at least physically unharmed and hopefully she can get help.
