For me, Drunken Tiger and Yoon Mi Rae were my introduction to Korean hip-hop, at least in terms of recognizing it as legitimate and not just something idol groups threw into songs in a usually cringy fashion. Needless to say, I was thrilled to see Yoon Mi Rae content get released recently.
For Dingo‘s ‘After Hours’ feature, the Korean rap legend performed a medley of “Black Happiness“, a cover of Lauryn Hill‘s “Doo Wop“, “Pay Day“, “Memories“, and “Angel“.
Still holds up.
Yoon Mi Rae also was a guest on ODG in their feature where they have popular artists — but ones that are usually more known to previous generations — performing for teenagers. She did a karaoke rendition of “Black Happiness”, which had an impact on one boy in particular.
Tiger JK special appearance!
Can’t believe Solfa is doing all this awesome stuff with these celebrities/legends now. Feeling like a hipster for getting in on ground level.
