Within the realm of K-pop and pop music, in general, you expect a certain amount of shamelessness for the sake of attention or sales or whatever else. It’s so engrained into things that I’ve almost become immune to being surprised by that aspect of things, so it’s remarkable that T1419‘s latest release has even made me roll my eyes to the back of my skull and cringe.
The single is the cynically titled “Red Light Green Light“, meant to attempt to coast off of Squid Game‘s popularity, even incorporating the iconic “mugunghwa kkochi piotsseumnida” passage into the track.
Oh and the song sucks, too.
