Hello again, folks. Sorry for the mini-vacation but I’ve been having entirely too much fun playing video games and detoxing (mostly) from the Asian entertainment world.
One of the most relevant updates is about actor Kim Seon Ho, who has had a sudden rise and then a sudden fall after apologizing to his ex for basically being a piece of shit boyfriend … or so it seemed. While his statement seemed like the end of it, Dispatch gave his side of the story, which casts doubt on the one-sidedness of her initial claims.
Read the details in full here, but it included an apology from her to him in July of last year for lying to him and they broke up, he discussed it with a friend, but then eventually got back to her. The relevant part comes regarding the abortion, because that was the main focus of the original post.
On July 24, Choi Young Ah found out that she was pregnant. She called Kim Seon Ho while crying and also sent him a text. According to B, Kim Seon Ho said to her, “It’s a blessing, so don’t cry.” B explained, “At first, he congratulated her saying it’s a good thing. I think he was honestly scared though. He really thought a lot about it. Unfortunately, the two agreed to let [the baby] go. And he carefully requested something from me.” On July 27, B waited in the parking lot, where the two came down later than scheduled. Their conversation got longer because Choi Young Ah suddenly changed her mind. B shared, “Both had completely swollen eyes when they came down. This kind of decision must not have been easy to make. While I went to the hospital with her, he went to buy ingredients for seaweed soup. He is someone who can’t cook at all…” Kim Seon Ho cooked her seaweed soup for two weeks. On “2 Days & 1 Night Season 4,” he mentioned, “I know how to cook seaweed soup because I cooked it recently.” Choi Young Ah wrote in her original post, “Kim Seon Ho’s attitude changed completely after the abortion.” She said that he “made a believable promise about marriage and introducing [her] to his parents by acting and lying.” According to Choi Young Ah’s friend C, she met Kim Seon Ho’s parents after the abortion, ate with them, and even slept at their place.
Basically it pushes back on the narrative that he forced her to get an abortion and treated her like trash afterward.
Interestingly, two of her friends spoke to Dispatch against her.
C revealed, “Young Ah stayed close to Seon Ho’s parents afterwards. Seon Ho worked to build trust with her. He also adopted a Shiba Inu named Ho Ah for her so she wouldn’t be lonely when alone.” Choi Young Ah’s friends C and D took Kim Seon Ho’s side, saying, “The truth has been distorted.” Here are additional quotes from C and D:
“Choi Young Ah also deliberated a lot about the abortion issue. It is a matter worth deliberating a lot about.”
“He must have been sick of the lies. It’s ironic that she is blaming Kim Seon Ho.”
“She is extremely obsessive. She opened his phone to check his texts and DMs.”
“She hoped that Kim Seon Ho would return after his downfall. It really happened.”
From what Dispatch was told, Kim Seon Ho and Choi Young Ah met until April 2021 and officially ended their relationship in May. Dispatch stated that they had met with many people and listened to their stories, with some of Choi Young Ah’s acquaintances reaching out to Dispatch first. According to them, Kim Seon Ho had not broken up with her because he suddenly rose to fame, and instead pointed out Choi Young Ah’s actions.
The Dispatch report certainly paints her in a bad light and casts doubt on her version of their relationship and what transpired.
But this is the part I find most interesting.
Dispatch’s report ended with a statement from B. He said, “Seon Ho hyung said this to me. Since it was true that he let go of his child… Since he once loved her, he tried to understand. And that he didn’t want to fight about his private life in front of the whole nation. So he said that instead of taking action, he apologized. Seon Ho hyung is that kind of person. He was in a normal relationship just like anyone else. He never tried to hide Young Ah noona. I’m a witness.” ”
I find it extremely difficult to believe that a guy who was completely unfairly maligned to the point of seemingly having his rising career ruined would just apologize without qualification for a litany of very image-damaging allegations just because he was such a nice guy, but that’s what the friend is telling Dispatch.
What would make sense to me is his company making a power play.
In response to the report, a source from Kim Seon Ho’s agency SALT Entertainment stated, “We have nothing to say. We apologize.
Since the beginning of this, his contract status with his company has been under suspicion, with the insinuation being that they were trying to tar and feather him on the way out as he was leaving for greener pastures. And I have to admit the timing just feels off with stuff like them mediaplaying how the company changed his image and what not shortly before all this emerged.
SALT heard the rumblings and providing their explanation.
Hello. This is SALT Entertainment. We will be sharing accurate information regarding Kim Seon Ho’s contract period with SALT Entertainment. Firstly, although the contents of a contract are privy to only the relevant party, due to the continuous issues, after discussing with the relevant party, we will be sharing it. Through an introduction from a representative of the broadcasting industry, we had our first meeting with Kim Seon Ho in July 2018. It is a very difficult thing to decide to spend a long period with a company in such a short time, so after mutual discussions, we settled on a period of September 2018 to September 2019, and that we would discuss once more about an extension after we have tried working together. After this, 3 months before his contract ended, in June 2019, we were supposed to discuss an extension but due to his promotions as an actor increasing, we have been continuing to work with the actor based on trust and it became mid- 2020. After this, due to Kim Seon Ho’s request, we re-contracted for the period March 2020 to March 2023 and a clause was added that if there were no conflicts, the contract would automatically renew yearly up to March 2027. We hope that you understand that we have to convey our statement due to the continuous issues. Thank you.
Perhaps this is all too conspiracy-esque and they’re telling the truth here, but the fact that they haven’t said a thing since all of this has been revealed makes me even more suspicious. I suppose we’ll see if further news emerges, but the whole thing has been bizarre so far, and I’m not ruling anything out at this point.
