Rapper NO:EL isn’t relevant enough for me to usually cover, but him continuing to be a mess helped me make an exception here.
Back in 2017, the then 17-year-old withdrew from the show ‘High School Rapper’, after controversial messages emerged linking him to school bullying and soliciting prostitution. Two years later in 2019, he was caught drunk driving and tried to pin the crime on a fall guy and ended up getting probation. In February of this year he and a friend were charged with assault for swearing at a passerby on the street and then assaulting them.
Recently, he has gotten in trouble again, being arrested for driving without a license and assaulting a police officer. He admitted to the charge on Instagram.
According to the report, on September 18 at 10:30 p.m. KST, NO:EL had been driving a Mercedes Benz in the Banpo-dong neighborhood of Seocho-gu in Seoul when he had a collision. When a police officer arrived on the scene to check his blood alcohol level and his license, he refused to comply and struck them on the head.
On September 19, NO:EL posted on Instagram, “I have no words to say. I will unreservedly take all the punishment that I deserve. I will work harder to become a more mature member of society. Starting with my fans, I am sorry to all the people who have been hurt because of me.”
Perhaps even worse for him, SBS obtained black box footage of the incident from the car behind him.
Oh yeah, his dad is conservative politician Jang Je Won.
Pick a struggle, man.
