Following the sentencing of Kim Chang Hwan and Moon Young Il in the case of assault against brothers Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun, former The East Light members Lee Eun Sung and Jung Sa Gang are now being forwarded to prosecution on perjury charges.
If you recall, when the brothers first opened up about their accusations, Media Line Entertainment made a big show at a press conference to refute their claims, including trotting out their former group mates in Lee Eun Sung and Jung Sa Gang. However, with it being exposed that those in charge of The East Light were indeed guilty, perjury charges were pursued against five individuals.
Seoul Bangbae Police Station, which has been investigating Kim Chang Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun, former producer Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, Jung Sa Gang for perjury and instigating perjury in the abuse case, has confirmed to have forwarded suspects Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, and Jung Sa Gang to the prosecution without detention on May 7, 2020. Previously, the victims sued Moon Young Il and Lee Eun Sung for perjury along with Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun for instigating perjury in September 2019 and filed additional charges against Jung Sa Gang for perjury in November 2019. After nearly eight months of investigation, the suspects of perjury were sent to the prosecution for questioning.
I mean, it’s hard to argue against it given all the lying they did during the case. However, it is notable that they are differentiating between perjury itself and instigating it.
It is confirmed that the charges of instigating perjury for Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun were sent to the prosecution without recommendation for indictment. Given that perjury is a crime committed by a suspect due to the instigators who benefit from that perjury, it is highly likely that Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun were involved in the perjury committed by Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, and Jung Sa Gang. Therefore, we will make an effort to prove that the accusers instigated perjury in further investigation by the prosecution.
I think this point is important in that the company execs likely ordered others to testify against the brothers the way they did. I don’t give a shit about Moon Young Il since he’s a grown-ass man and an abuser of the brothers himself, but I do feel some for former members Lee Eun Sung and Jung Sa Gang, as they are still teens even now.
Obviously not saying what they did was right, but especially if it’s proven that they were being ordered to lie — also not exactly a stretch to believe they might’ve been threatened given what we know now — it seems forgivable for kids to listen to authority figures.
