All four member of Big Bang have renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, according to an official announcement by the company themselves.
BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung have all renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment. The label made the official announcement on March 11. Since BIGBANG’s debut in 2006, this will be their third renewal with YG. YG Entertainment said, “Going beyond musical influence, BIGBANG has changed the course of Korean pop culture. YG will continue to support BIGBANG so that they can continue to make K-pop history as a representative group of our label.” According to the latest reports, BIGBANG plans to begin preparing for a comeback this year.
With Coachella in doubt (currently postponed) due to concerns over COVID-19, it’s now guaranteed that the members will be sticking together, with YGE saying they have new music planned for this year, so … like there should get one release by the end of their new contracts at least.
This has to be seen as absolutely gigantic for YGE, though it probably won’t help Big Bang in terms of the perception that they at minimum tolerate the shady shit the company was/is involved in.
