Back in November, Jungkook of BTS was booked by police as a result of his involvement of a car accident. By all accounts it was a minor accident, Jungkook took responsibility, and he settled with the victim of the collision. However, police have forwarded his case to the prosecution and are recommending indictment nonetheless, basically due to the negligence involved.
On December 10, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station revealed that they had forwarded Jungkook to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment for violation of the Road Traffic Act and violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. A police source stated, “We summoned Jungkook for questioning on November 28 and wrapped up our investigation. He and the victim made an amicable settlement, but because his negligence was a major part of the accident, we forwarded him to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.”
That’s two violations and it does kinda make me wonder exactly what he did that led to this.
Like it’s still not serious based on what we know, but I previously compared his accident to something like Taeyeon‘s in 2017 and even she was not forwarded to prosecution even though there’s video of her truck sticking cars at a traffic light.
As the cause of the accident does not fall under the category of the “11 types of gross negligence” under the Act on Special Cases concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents and as the accident is being handled through comprehensive insurance, the case will most likely close with no prosecutions after the investigation is concluded.
If that wasn’t gross negligence, then I think it’s fair to at least wonder about what exactly happened.
Regardless, I wouldn’t expect this to result in anything other than a fine or something, though it’s just surprising that they’ve gone this extra step.

As a side note, anybody getting upset at media outlets (like SBS) covering the police making a statement on an ongoing case involving a public figure as if that’s out of the ordinary is nuts. Like this happens to everybody. Come on, now.
