Granted, Jolin Tsai‘s career is one impressive run, but she has had an particularly impressive streak of late. She dropped “UGLY BEAUTY” in December, “Hubby” in January, and now “Womxnly” in February, and all of them are impressive in one way or another.
“Ugly Beauty” is a self-assured response to criticism of her and beauty standards, “Hubby” is a cute tribute to 90s Hong Kong cinema, and “Womxnly” is inspired by Yeh Yung Chih, who was bullied for supposedly being gay and was found dead at 15, but is also just a general song in support of LGBT+.
