Girls On Top impress with dynamic “HOLA” that thrives thanks to a multi-faceted chorus

Vocal trio Girls On Top didn’t even get a music video for “HOLA“, which is quite a shame considering the quality they brought on it.

The obvious comparison to make during the verses of “HOLA” is MAMAMOO, right down to the funk influences, but perhaps with a lighter arrangement thanks to the piano. However, that’s fine with me, especially since the underlying beat keeps things moving and hints at bigger things to come.

Where “HOLA” truly shines is the multi-faceted chorus that truly kicks things up a notch, doing so not just with volume but in a way that creates multiple memorable sections. Many songs would just fall back on the singing of a vocal group, but thankfully the production keeps things fresh and even includes a hook in the “hola hola baby” refrain.

I always love it when these intense songs build to something epic and then cut the listener off at the end, because it always makes me want to go back for more and serves as a reminder that the minutes flew by without my noticing. “HOLA” was definitely one of those songs for me, and it puts Girls On Top among my groups to watch.
