As the Park Geun Hye protests continue to rage on, I’ve mentioned instances of protesters so far using TWICE‘s “Cheer Up“ and SNSD‘s “Into The New World“, and I figured I might as well track all of them I know of. Anyway, the other songs being used are IU‘s “Red Queen“, Big Bang‘s “Bang Bang Bang“, and TWICE‘s “TT“. And despite my general cynicism about K-pop, I think it’s cool that these pop songs are being used for something greater, whether it’s for themes of perseverance, as an expression of frustration, or just to lift the mood of the surely exhausted protesters.
Using the lyrics for IU’s “Red Queen”, for example, is hilarious and I wish I thought of it.
With no facial expressions, that woman,
The one everyone hates, that woman,
Even you would know her, that woman,
Oh how pitiful, that woman,
The one everyone is afraid of, that woman,
The one you know, that woman.
And that’s only how the track starts.

Big Bang’s “Bang Bang Bang” was also used, and while it has some relevant lyrical content, it mainly seems to be utilized as a hype song.
Makes sense, really.
TWICE’s “TT”, on the other hand, is as bizarre a choice as you would think … so they got around that by just changing parts of the lyrics to fit their needs.
OMGGGG THEY HAVE CHANGED THE LYRICS OF TT AND USE IT TO PROTEST AGAINST THE PRESIDENT OF KOREA pic.twitter.com/AtAF4Lfzyz
