If you hadn’t yet heard, one of the biggest stories in Korea at the moment is the ongoing deepfake ‘crisis’, as most outlets are labeling it. Fortunately, many others have done the bulk of the work on giving an overview of the situation.

Not that doing this with adults would be acceptable, but the predatory aspect of the chatrooms and the fact that many victims are minors has people calling it the new Nth room as well
It was recently revealed that a long list of female idols have been included in the deepfake porn being created. Understandably that caused fans to call for companies to take action to protect their artists, and so far at least one in JYP Entertainment has posted a notice saying they were planning to do exactly that.

We are gravely concerned about the recent spread of deepfake (AI-generated) videos involving our artists.
This is a blatant violation of the law, and we are in the process of collecting all relevant evidence to pursue the strongest legal action with a leading law firm, without leniency.
We want to make it clear that we will not stand by while our artists’ rights are violated and will take decisive action to address this matter to the fullest extent possible.

Honestly, the PPKKa guy is a cyberwrecker to begin with and should’ve been gone well before this.
Additionally, one of the things Korean women are asking for is exposure internationally in fear of a Korean media blackout.
